Are you believing the Truth about your life or the lies of doubt?April 1, 2020
You can never fulfill your calling in your comfort zone.April 8, 2020
As the entire world faces an unprecedented public health emergency, the community and families have challenges we are all facing and the contingency measures we’re putting in place to keep our family safe.
While many families have transitioned to working in an office to home, it is important that as the home/infrastructure that you continue to encourage an atmosphere of love, support and security. Transitioning at any level to work now being at home along will bring new routines, stress and changes in care and responsibility within the home. Your Family is your first ministry. Scripture places a high emphasis on the family as a unit.
Caring for the Family is Part of the Greatest Commandment
Deuteronomy 6:5 Jesus indicated that the greatest commandment in the Shema which is found in Deuteronomy 6:5. Shema is Hebrew for hearing/obedient of the word. “Love the Lord your God will all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
But two verses below, the texts say that the parent is to “Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:7. Religious and spiritual instruction begins at home. Pastor’s highest calling is not the sermons preached on Sunday mornings, but the instruction that is given to their children each day.
In the history of our nation we are experiencing uncharted territories that has impacted everyone in one form or another.
Even if you are a person who has great faith, you will experience times of fear. Does it seem like lately what you’re presented with in the news with everything your being handed “looks too big”? Does it seem scary? Homeschooling first, now today Florida announces mandatory closures, fear, stress and anxiety can be normal during times like these, but these feelings can also be overwhelming. You see what this tiny little virus has done, just imagine what a tiny mustard seed can do….
Scripture says in Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
But, what does it mean to have faith like a grain of mustard seed?
The mustard seed is one of the tiniest, most insignificant seeds found in the Middle East. A fast-growing herb, the mustard seed grows up to 10 feet tall in just a few short months, demonstrating the striking example of the potential of a small, insignificant seed.
The seed in this analogy grew into a big, strong tree, much like the way in which Christianity began, eventually growing into a huge kingdom that encompassed the world and traversed centuries of generations. The same can be said for faith. Where there is a tiny bit of faith, it can grow to immense proportions, spreading its influence far and wide and benefiting those who it comes into contact with. A seed does nothing until it is planted. After that, it can overcome obstacles and even move rocks through its continuous expansion and growth. Seeds are persistent, and they never give up. Where there is faith, there is a way.
Plant, root, grow & blossom. We must say faithful.
I challenge you to operationally pivot your core efforts to keep Jesus at the center of your focus during these times. We may be social distancing but we are not spiritually distancing.
I would love to pray for you
